How to Play Cat Sudoku in 30 Seconds
- One cat per colored region. Every territory holds exactly one cat.
- One cat per row and column. Cats never share a line of sight.
- Cats never touch, even diagonally. Placing a cat blocks all 8 cells around it.
- Tap cycle: 1st tap marks ✕, 2nd tap places the cat, 3rd tap clears.
Cat Sudoku Technique: Six Moves That Solve Any Board
No guessing is ever required: every board on this page is proven to have exactly one solution. The six moves below are the whole toolkit; the full strategy guide develops each one with worked examples.
- Start in the smallest region. A one-cell region is a free cat; a two-cell region narrows to a pair. On Level 1, the two-cell blue region sits entirely in column 6. That fact alone places the first cat (R1C5) by elimination.
- Let rows and columns point. If every open cell of a row belongs to one region, that region's cat is in the row, and the region's other cells all die.
- Draw the exclusion circle. Each placed cat bans all 8 neighbours, corners included. Re-scan the whole board after every placement.
- Test the fork, not the board. Two candidates left? Empty one in your head: if some row, column or region starves, the other one is the cat.
- Prefer edges and corners. A corner cat bans 3 cells, a mid-board cat bans all 8. Corners keep more options alive.
- Count the endgame. Most boards end with several units down to a single open cell: read them off one by one.
Cat Sudoku Hints
The hint button in the game above places the next forced cat and tells you why it is forced. It walks the deduction with you instead of solving the board. For reading boards before you touch them, the guide keeps a six-strategy cheat sheet.
Cat Sudoku Answers, Verified Cell by Cell
Every fixed level ships with a machine-verified answer: each board is proven to have exactly one solution before publication, so any legal finish lands on the same six cats. Level 1's full derivation walks the opening move by move; the same reading order works on any 6×6 board.
FAQ
Is this the real Meowdoku app?
No. Meowdoku is a mobile puzzle by Oakever. This is an unofficial, fan-made web version with the same rules: one cat per region, row, and column, and cats never touch, diagonals included.
Is Meowdoku the same as cat sudoku?
Yes — cat sudoku is the general name for this puzzle family: one piece per row, one per column, one per colored region, and no two pieces touching. Meowdoku is the cat-themed version, and this page is its free browser take.
Do I need to download or install anything?
No. Every board plays right in your browser on desktop and mobile. Unlike many puzzle apps, there are no forced interstitial ads between boards.
Are the boards solvable without guessing?
Yes. Every board, including all 10 fixed levels, is programmatically proven to have exactly one solution before you see it, so pure logic always reaches the answer.
How is this different from LinkedIn Queens?
The deduction is the same (Queens-style placement). Here every token is a cat, boards are 6×6, and you get a hint that fills in the next forced cat with its row and column.
